Welcome
Welcome to St Giles Primary Academy
At St Giles we have children who are enthusiastic, polite and caring; parents who are supportive both to the school and towards their child’s learning and a very dedicated, professional body of staff. We strive to ensure the children enjoy their learning and make good progress through taking part in exciting and motivating lessons and experiences.
Throughout the year Our Christian Values are embedded in all we do and we are very proud to be a part of the community we serve. We have close links with St Giles Church and All Saints Church and are enriched with regular visits to school by the diocese and whole school worship held at both churches throughout the year.
As a school, we have a strong focus on learning and in helping children become effective life-long learners. We also focus on children’s emotional, social, physical and spiritual development.
We strive for excellence in all areas.
Whether you are an existing parent or a prospective parent I hope that our website will give you a flavour of our school and the opportunities and experiences the children who attend our school have access to.
‘So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.’
Matthew 7:12

Our Pupils
Our children are at the heart of everything we do. Each one is recognised as a unique individual, full of ambition and promise. We take pride in preparing them for a journey not just to succeed academically, but to enjoy learning, to take joy in their achievements, and to live life with kindness, curiosity, and confidence. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and resilience inspire us daily, and we are committed to helping them grow into thoughtful, capable individuals who thrive both in school and beyond.

Our Staff
At our academy every child is cherished. Our dedicated teachers and staff understand the profound importance of each child’s unique journey. We recognise their individual value and are committed to nurturing their growth—academically, emotionally, and socially. Through a caring and supportive environment, we empower children to explore, learn, and flourish. By fostering strong relationships and providing thoughtful guidance, we help every child build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our Communities
We are proud to serve the vibrant and supportive Pontefract parent community. At the heart of our school’s success is the strong partnership we share with our families. We deeply respect the individuality of the local communities we serve and encourage our staff to work closely with them, building meaningful connections. The support from our parents—whether through events, learning activities, or everyday encouragement—is truly invaluable. This collaboration helps our children grow with confidence, joy, and a deep sense of belonging.

Our Church
Our school shares a deep and meaningful bond with both All Saints and St Giles churches. Rooted in Christian values and guided by the principles of the Church of England, we believe that faith plays a vital role in shaping both academic excellence and personal character. This partnership helps us provide our pupils with a strong foundation—encouraging academic rigour while nurturing well-rounded, compassionate individuals. Through shared values and community spirit, we strive to give every child the best possible start in life.
